Beginners Course

Course Content

  • Basic knowledge of kimono
  • How to put on kimono and how to tie obi by yourself
  • From 1 lesson, 90 mins / lesson

Certificate Courses

Courses for a certificate for professional kimono dresser authorized by the National Japanese Clothing Consultant Association

Course for the 2nd-degree instructor certificate

 The 2nd-degree instructors are authorized to dress customers.

Certificate Course I

  • Total 7 lessons, 90 mins / lesson
  • Course Fee: $40 / lesson

Course Content

  • Basic knowledge of kimono and its culture
  • Basic skills to put on yukata, casual, formal visiting kimono and tie various obis, including Nagoya obi and Fukuro obi


Certificate Course II

  • 10 lessons minimum, 90 mins / lesson
  • Course Fee: $60 / lesson

Course Content

  • Skills to dress others in formal visiting kimono and tomesode
  • Skills to dress men in casual Nagagi kimono and formal Haori-Hamkama
  • Skills to dress children in kimono especially for Seven-Five-Three festival
  • Various techniques to arrange obis for different occasions...etc

Upon completion of these courses, you become eligible for the 2nd –degree kimono instructor certificate exam (paper & skill exam).
Basic ability to communicate in Japanese is needed.

Course for the Advanced 2nd-degree instructor certificate

Courses for the Advanced 2nd-degree instructor certificate
The Advanced 2nd-degree instructor certificate is a requirement for taking the Master instructor Certificate exam in Japan. This is a prep course for the Master Instructor Certificate

Advanced Course

  • 5 lessons minimum, 120 mins / lesson
  • Course Fee: $80 / lesson

Course Content

  • More advanced skills to dress others in Furisode and other special kimonos
  • Various technique to arrange Fukuro-obi
  • Skills to coordinate a total kimono fashion on various occasions
  • Greater Knowledge on kimono history and culture

Upon completion of these courses, you become eligible for the Advanced 2nd –degree instructor certificate exam (paper & skill exam).
